Dogs Helping Kids Read Better!

When and Where? Saturday, May 5, 2018   9am-2pm
Sunset Woods • 1801 Sunset Rd. • Highland Park, IL  60035

What? Register on-line for a 1-mile walk with, or without a dog, hosted by K-9 Reading Buddies, in partnership with the Park District of Highland Park. Adult Walk $30; Students (15 or younger) $15. Additional $5 each on day of the event. Net proceeds will fund growth of literacy and outreach therapy dog team programs that provide reading assistance and emotional support to children in schools and libraries. The Expo is free.

Activities Include: The Pup Strut (a mile-long walk for dogs, owners and dog lovers), Dog Costume and Dog Trick Contests, K-9 Reading Corner, Doggie Massages, Animal Communicator, Pet Caricatures and Portraits, Children’s Author Reading and free book give away, Interactive Booths, Dog Services and Demos, Library “book bikes”, 25+ dog product vendors and much more!

Enjoy music, great food and prizes!  

This promises to be a “don’t miss” extravaganza.

Safety Rules & Recommendations:

  • Please use good judgment about your dog’s health and temperament.
  • Vicious dogs or female dogs in any stage of heat will not be allowed to attend.
  • Minimum age of dog – 4 months
  • All participating dogs must be current on vaccinations and wearing an I.D. tag.
  • All dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
  • Please use a leash no longer than 6 ft. No retractable leashes allowed.
  • Handler must be 16 yrs. or older. Maximum two dogs per handler.
  • Dogs in strollers and wagons allowed.
  • Any misbehaving dog will be asked to leave.
  • Please scoop up after your pet.
